During the intro, Joel is playing these pairs of notes, not chords:

The parts that are palm muted, I am not 100% sure about those notes, particularly the lower melody.
But since they are muted, and played pretty quickly, you can hardly notice if you play the whole
thing at full speed. Also I'm not sure that there are even 4 notes played each time by both Jake
and Brendan, and as you can see towards the end, you can use rakes too to fill in some of that space.
It's a triplet/shuffle feel, and spacing indicates the timing.
